Recently, Thomson Reuters published the Global Highly Cited Researchers List 2014. Dr. Liang Yingchang, an alumnus of Jilin University, IEEE Fellow, Chief Scientist of Institute of Infocomm Research I2R, Singapore, and guest professor of CCE, joined the ranks of “Highly Cited Researchers” in Computer Science for his outstanding contributions in the field of cognitive wireless networking and communications.
Researchers listed in “Highly cited Researchers 2014” engage in 21 fields of science and social sciences. A total of 3,215 researchers are identified in the list, with only 117 in the field of computer science, including 3 Chinese researchers. According to Thomson Reuters, based on the “Highly Cited Papers” of the ISI Essential Science Indicators, Highly Cited Researchers List 2014 ranks all the papers in the fields of science and social sciences included in the ISI Web of Science in the past 11 years. In other words, the top 1% highly cited papers in specific fields which are rather authoritative are listed. The number of times a paper is cited for is one of the important indicators for evaluating scientific research results. Being “highly cited” means that the scientist has a world-class influence in the discipline he studies, and his scientific research results have made a significant contribution to the development of the discipline.
On June 27, Dr. Liang Yingchang was invited to the College of Communication Engineering for academic exchanges. Zhao Xiaohui, Dean of the College of Communication Engineering, and representatives of teachers and students attended this meeting as well. The meeting was hosted by Zhao Xiaohui. During the meeting, Dr. Liang Yingchang took “How to write high-level and highly cited papers” as the theme, combined with his own learning and research experience, conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions with teachers and students, and answered the relevant questions raised by the teachers and students in detail. The atmosphere of the meeting was very lively. By inviting internationally renowned scholars and alumni to return to their alma mater for academic exchanges, the academic research of the College of Communication Engineering has been further promoted.
